Professor Ilya Nemenman appointed as Samuel Candler Dobbs Professor of Physics and Biology

Prof. Nemenman was appointed as a distinguished chair based on his numerous research accomplishments and his extraordinary service for the university. He is currently a Simons Foundation Investigator and serveson the Provost's advisory panel for the AI.Humanity initiative. Among his many recognitions from in and outside of the university, Prof. Nemenman is an APS Fellow, received a McDonnell Foundation award, held a Winship Distinguished Research Professorship, and he founded and co-directs the Initiative in Theory and Modeling of Living Systems at Emory, served as vice chair of APS' Division of Biological Physics, and is aboard member of the Aspen Center for Physics. The Samuel Candler Dobbs professorship is bestowed on Emory faculty who have shown “extraordinary accomplishment and considerable future promise in research and teaching”.
